Honoring our history on Go Texan Day

Go Texan Day is a big moment in the Houston, Texas calendar. For those who don’t already know, Tokio Marine HCC was founded in the heart of Houston, Texas, way back in 1974 – so we aren’t going to miss an opportunity to celebrate the Lone Star State.

Honoring our history on Go Texan Day

To this day, Houston remains the headquarters of our global operations which covers 180 different countries, and is a second home for thousands of colleagues from around the world. Without Texas, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

Texas is the proud home to some of the best food, drinks, and culture that can be offered, so we always jump at the opportunity to embrace it and share it with others. Thankfully, there’s no better day than Go Texan Day, the unofficial kick off to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Each year we mark the day by bringing a bit of traditional Texas culture into our offices. In Houston, our colleagues gathered for the annual Go Texan Day luncheon, a feast of (y’all guessed it) the best food our state has to offer, while showcasing some of our best Western wear. From smoky BBQ to sweet funnel cake, we dished out true Southern hospitality. The day would not have been complete without a live DJ, and some raffle prizes, including concert and carnival tickets for Houston’s legendary Rodeo season.

Now, it wouldn’t be fair to keep this to ourselves. Across the pond in London, our office marks the day with an immersive experience which swaps out the Bowler Hats for Cowboy Boots and opens up the Moonshine Saloon. With themed drinks, food and décor, our friends in London get a taste of the good life we’re fortunate enough to enjoy in Texas.
