International Women’s Day 2025

International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate women's incredible achievements and the progress we have made so far. It is also a day to look ahead and see how we can continue moving toward a more equal society. This year’s theme, #AccelerateAction, aligns with our mission to foster a workspace where women can thrive.

Celebrating women across our network

Tokio Marine Group hosted a webinar, ‘Tokio Talks,’ in which women from across our global organization discussed their careers and their role in creating an environment of inclusivity and belonging. This webinar spanned our entire network and highlighted some of the great women who drive our company to new heights.

Across Tokio Marine HCC International (UK & Europe), our Women’s Community Network and Vanesa Herrero, Chief Executive Officer for Tokio Marine Europe, hosted an online discussion and Q&A to inform and inspire women across the business. Career mentor Emilie West also hosted a personal branding workshop to help women improve their self-confidence, create authentic connections and raise their profiles.

Local offices also took part in celebrating the important day:

United Kingdom: Our London office hosted an evening with Ruby Wax on 12 March, and over a hundred employees attended. Ruby, who has proven herself to be an incredible actress, comedian, writer, presenter, and best-selling author (to name a few), came to our office to speak about the benefits of having a good network and mental health.

We hosted a networking event with drinks and canapes to mark the occasion.

United States: The Women's Community hosted their quarterly all members meeting on March 10 which featured a conversation with Vanesa Herrero, Chief Executive Officer, Tokio Marine Europe. A trivia game on the Communities and Networks platform was run throughout the month to test our employee’s knowledge on women in insurance.

Spain: In Barcelona, we hosted a women’s networking breakfast to help women expand their networks and forge stronger relationships across the business.

France: In Paris, the team organised a self-defence class, focusing on learning a new skill and, most importantly, having fun together.

Onwards and upwards

The fight for true equality does not start or stop on International Women’s Day. This is an ongoing mission to help promote a better, fairer society. While significant progress has been made, there is still plenty more action to take, so we stand by women and their allies to help #AccelerateAction across our company and the wider insurance industry.
