Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Every day, 12 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer, and the ripple effects that it has on families brings added pressures to bear on an already challenging situation. Our charity partner, Young Lives vs Cancer, works tirelessly to ease the load on these families.

Young Lives vs Cancer Boats 2024

Each year, over 6,000 young cancer patients access the charity’s broad range of services—everything from day-to-day emotional and financial support to providing in-home care and long-term assistance. Young Lives vs Cancer recognises that no two children will experience their diagnosis and treatment in the same way, so they make a huge effort to tailor the support they provide to individual needs.

That level of service is difficult to provide if the charity doesn’t receive support from companies like ours. Our colleagues have raised tens of thousands of pounds this year alone for Young Lives vs Cancer. The London Market team completed the Snowdon Triple Challenge and raised nearly £15,000 in the process, while John Nolan, Head of Legal Entity Reporting, ran the London Marathon to raise almost £1,500 single-handedly.

With parents spending around £700 extra every month when their child has cancer, the need for funds is ever-present. That’s why Tokio Marine HCC will continue to support Young Lives vs. Cancer throughout Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and beyond. We also look forward to welcoming them to our Bridgend office on Tuesday 24 September, where they will raise awareness of their work with our teams.

We want to foster a welcoming community for TMHCC employees, where everyone can feel seen and heard while connecting with colleagues and having the opportunity to impact key issues that matter to them. Find out what it means to belong at TMHCC here.
