At Tokio Marine HCC International (TMHCCI), we recognise the wider impact we can have to help our communities thrive with confidence, and we aim to choose charity partnerships where our involvement can make a meaningful and positive difference in the long term. We are immensely proud of our Charity Programme, supporting 50 charities in 2024 through a range of fundraising and volunteering initiatives.
One of our flagship initiatives is Pick a Project, a campaign that gives our nine UK charity partners the opportunity to win a £10,000 grant voted for by our colleagues. Funding in the charity sector is increasingly challenging to secure, especially for new and untested projects. Pick a Project allows our charity partners to run their initiative, evaluate it and potentially secure more long-term grants.
This year, we had a record of 450 votes and the clear winner was The Wickers, with their project Rhyme Safe. Rhyme Safe will provide a dedicated studio space for vulnerable young people so they can express themselves through music, video editing and podcast creation in a safe environment.
Sam Bosede, Director of Operations at The Wickers, said, “This funding will make a significant difference by allowing us to deliver music studio sessions that provide young people with a creative outlet to express themselves. Music has a unique power to foster connections, build confidence, and nurture resilience, all of which are essential for improving mental health and overall wellbeing. We’re excited to see how this project will inspire young people and contribute to positive outcomes in their lives. Thank you again for believing in Rhyme Safe and allowing us to make a meaningful impact!”
